About The Author

Osborne P. Anderson (1830–1872) was an African American abolitionist and writer, best known for his firsthand account of John Brown's raid on Harpers Ferry, "A Voice from Harper's Ferry." As the only surviving African American participant of the raid, Anderson's work provides a unique and invaluable perspective on this pivotal event in American history.
